Bristol may have been pipped to the post in this year’s SWWU league by the narrowest of margins, but their performance at BUCS Outdoors was one hell of a consolation prize. Bristol recurves Alex and Magdalena had a dream 70 metre Saturday, both securing 3rd place in style with final ends of 29 and 28 respectively. That strong form stayed with them heading into Sunday’s WA900; Magdalena finished the weekend in 5th place and Alex in 6th.
What Plymouth’s Marilyn Wong lacks in recurve accessories, she makes up for in silverware. She claimed her fourth BUCS medal in a row this time out, and her fifth over the course of her university archery career. She shot consistently over both days on the way to the overall bronze medal, the highlight being 1st place in the WA50 qualification round and a new SWWU record.
Well done to all who competed for giving it everything over two gruelling days of competition. We look forward to seeing you back on the shooting line next season.
